I am stuck on a task, my answer is not being saved or I cannot move to the next one
Use this article if, during your assessment, you cannot move to the next task, a questionnaire answer does not seem to be saved, the button you click does not react, or you are waiting for a confirmation of your work that never comes.
In short
During the lab, nothing checks your work live: there is no "passed" or "failed" feedback to wait for during the assessment. Your work is checked once, at the end, from the final state of your environment. You move freely from one task to another and you can go back: an unfinished task never blocks the next one. In the questionnaire, each answer is saved the moment you give it. If a button does not react, wait 1 minute, refresh the page (F5) and click again: this is safe. If the button still does not react after 3 minutes, contact Scalyz Support from the ? Help button.
What to do
If you cannot finish a task:
- Move on to the next task. Tasks are not locked: you can come back to it later, as long as your time has not run out.
- Before you click Finish, leave the environment and your files in the state each task asks for, as far as you were able to. That final state is what is checked.
If a button in the lab or the questionnaire does not react, or an answer does not seem to be saved:
- Wait 1 minute. A button normally reacts in under 30 seconds.
- Refresh the page (F5), then click the button again or give your answer again. This does not create a new attempt and does not delete your work.
- If the button still does not react 3 minutes after your first click, contact Scalyz Support from the ? Help button right away (see below).
Good to know
- There is no checking during the lab. Do not look for a tick, a score or a validation message before the end: they do not exist at that stage.
- What is checked at the end is the final state of your environment and your files, not the way you got there.
- In the questionnaire, each answer is saved the moment you give it. There is nothing to save by hand.
- Scalyz Support does not help with the content of the tasks and does not say whether a task is passed: that would be unfair to other candidates. It only steps in on technical problems.
- The timer does not stop during a technical problem. Do not spend your allotted time retrying: contact Support once 3 minutes have passed.
- If the terminal or code editor stops responding, see the article "My terminal or code editor does not load during the lab".
When to contact Scalyz Support
If a button in the lab or the questionnaire still does not react 3 minutes after your first click, even after refreshing the page, or if an error message appears when you click, contact Scalyz Support from the ? Help button. If your time has already run out, contact Scalyz Support from the help bubble in your Scalyz space.
The state of your environment is attached to your request automatically. Support replies within 4 working hours, 9am to 6pm Paris time. If a problem on our side stopped you from continuing, this attempt is not held against you and you receive new access. There is nothing to report to your recruiter.
What to include
- The button you clicked, what happened (nothing, an error message, endless loading) and the time of your first click.
- If you can, a screenshot of the problem.
- How you prefer to be contacted: by email, or by phone with your number.
