An error is showing on my screen
Use this article if an error message appears while you open your assessment or during the lab, and you do not know what it means or what to do.
In short
Two messages have their own article: "Assessment invitation not found" and "Session expired". For any other message (error page, loading error, lost connection), note or screenshot the message, then refresh the page (F5): this is safe for your attempt and your work, before or during the lab. If the message comes back, open the link from your invitation email again. If the problem lasts more than 3 minutes during the lab, or more than 5 minutes before it opens, contact Scalyz Support with the text of the message.
What to do
- Read the message. If it says "Assessment invitation not found", see the article "My invitation link shows "Assessment invitation not found"". If it says "Session expired", see the article "My invitation link has expired or no longer works".
- For any other message, take a screenshot or note the exact text before going on.
- Refresh the page (F5). This does not create a new attempt and does not delete your work.
- If the message comes back, open the link from your invitation email again. You get your attempt and your work back.
- If the message still comes back after 3 minutes during the lab, or if your assessment still does not open 5 minutes after you clicked Start Assessment, contact Scalyz Support right away (see below).
Good to know
- Refreshing the page or reopening your invitation link does not create a new attempt and does not delete your work, as long as your assessment is in progress.
- The timer does not stop during an error that occurs in the lab. Do not spend your allotted time retrying: contact Support once 3 minutes have passed.
- If the error concerns the terminal or the code editor (blank, reloading, lost connection), see the article "My terminal or code editor does not load during the lab".
- Turn off ad blockers, accept cookies and use a computer with Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari or Opera. On a work computer or a company network, security equipment can cause access errors.
When to contact Scalyz Support
If the error message still comes back 3 minutes after it first appeared during the lab, contact Scalyz Support from the ? Help button. If the error appears before the lab opens and your assessment still does not open after 5 minutes, or if your time has already run out, contact Scalyz Support from the help bubble on the invitation page or in your Scalyz space.
The state of your environment is attached to your request automatically. Support replies within 4 working hours, 9am to 6pm Paris time. If a problem on our side stopped you from continuing, this attempt is not held against you and you receive new access. There is nothing to report to your recruiter.
What to include
- The exact text of the message, or a screenshot, and the time it first appeared.
- What you were doing just before (opening the link, clicking a button, running a command in the terminal).
- Your browser, and whether you are using a work computer or a company network.
- If you can, the errors from the browser console: right-click the page, Inspect, Console tab, copied and pasted or as a screenshot into the conversation with Support.
- How you prefer to be contacted: by email, or by phone with your number.
